In July, 1986, the System became available in Massachusetts as a market experiment. Subsequently in 1989 the Federal Communications Commission, satisfied with the test and success of the technology, approved the LoJack System for marketing to consumers, and allocated a police radio band for operation of a nationwide Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, using the patented LoJack technology.
