Website Description: Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ, on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1762. It was a hiding place for The Liberty Bell in 1777 and where the first reading of the Declaration of Independence in Allentown occurred. It is home of the Liberty Bell Shrine Museum, which houses an exact replica of the Liberty Bell, stones from the original building, a 46-foot painting of important events during the Revolution, an art exhibit, a copy of the Declaration and a Civil War display commemorating the Church's role as a place of worship for Lincoln's First Defenders. Special commemorative services are held throughout the year.
